Flags of Japan and Brazil waving against a blue sky - Japan E-Tourist Visa application for Brazilian citizens

Japan E-Tourist Visa for Brazil Citizens

Home to the largest Japanese population outside Japan (specifically in Liberdade, São Paulo), the bond between Brazil and Japan is unique and historic. Whether visiting relatives, exploring heritage, or conducting business in Tokyo, the connection is profound.

In 2026, the Japanese government has digitized the entry process for Brazilian passport holders. The physical visa sticker is replaced by a digital system, allowing you to secure your Japan E-Tourist Visa entirely online without visiting the consulates in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, or Curitiba.

Quick Overview for Brazilian Citizens

Traveling from Brazil to Japan (Flight Routes)

Traveling from Brazil to Japan is one of the longest journeys in aviation, often taking 24 to 30 hours. Choosing the right route is critical.

  • Via Middle East (Recommended): Emirates (via Dubai) and Qatar Airways (via Doha) are the most popular choices from Guarulhos (GRU). They require only one stop and no transit visa.

  • Via USA (Warning): Flights via Houston, Dallas, or New York are often cheaper but require a US Transit Visa. If you do not have a valid US visa, avoid this route to prevent being denied boarding.

  • Via Europe: Connections through Frankfurt (Lufthansa) or Paris (Air France) are also reliable options.

Critical Arrival Note: Brazil and Japan have a 12-hour time difference (literally day and night). We recommend landing with your "Visa Issuance Notice" cached on your phone, as you will likely be exhausted upon arrival.

Financial Insights: BRL to JPY

The Brazilian Real (BRL) fluctuates against the Yen. Planning your finances is essential.

  • No "Parcelado" (Installments): Unlike in Brazil, where everything can be paid in installments, Japan is a "pay in full" culture. Visa fees and expenses in Japan are one-time charges.

  • Digital Banks: Cards like Nomad or Wise are extremely popular among Brazilian travelers for saving on IOF and getting better exchange rates in Japan.

  • Cash is Necessary: Many traditional ramen shops or ticket machines in Japan still do not accept cards. Carry Yen cash.

Visa Payment: Our portal processes the $70.00 USD fee securely. Your bank will handle the BRL conversion automatically. See our Visa Types and Prices page for details.

Japan E-Tourist Visa Cost & Processing Time

We offer a transparent, fixed-fee structure for "Group A" applicants like Brazilian citizens.

  • Standard Processing ($70.00 USD): Covers manual review of your itinerary and solvency proof.

  • Timeframe: 5 to 9 Business Days.

  • Refund Policy: Once the review process begins with the Japanese authorities, the fee is non-refundable. See our Refund Policy.

Japan E-Tourist Visa FAQ for Brazil Citizens

Can I work as a Dekasegi with this visa?

No. The E-Tourist Visa is strictly for tourism and short visits. Working in factories or any paid employment requires a specific Work Visa (Long-Term Resident). Working on a tourist visa is illegal and leads to deportation.

Do I need a visa if I have a connection in the US?

This Japan visa does not cover your US transit. If your flight to Japan stops in the USA, you must have a valid US Visa. If not, choose a route via Dubai, Qatar, or Europe.

Can I use my RG (ID Card) to apply?

No. Unlike travel within Mercosul, you cannot use your RG to travel to Japan. You must have a valid Brazilian Passport.

Is the visa valid for multiple entries?

The standard E-Tourist Visa is typically Single Entry for up to 90 days. If you plan to visit another country in Asia and return to Japan, you generally need a new authorization.
