Flags of Japan and Macau SAR waving against a blue sky - Japan E-Tourist Visa process for Macau residents

Japan E-Tourist Visa for Macau Citizens

For residents of Macau, Japan is the ultimate getaway for relaxation, luxury shopping, and gastronomy. Whether it's escaping the casinos to enjoy the serenity of Kyoto or taking a direct flight to Osaka for a food tour, the connection between Macau and Japan is seamless.

In 2026, specific categories of Macau SAR passport holders required to obtain a visa must follow strict regulations. Unlike standard visa-waiver travelers, those needing an E-Visa (Group B) cannot apply individually directly to the government site. Applications must be processed through an Authorized Partner Agency. Our platform acts as your digital concierge, managing this process via our accredited partners in Japan.

Quick Overview for Macau Citizens

  • Visa Type: Japan E-Tourist Visa (Temporary Visitor)

  • Visa Fee: $100.00 USD (All-Inclusive Service Fee)

Traveling from Macau to Japan (Flight Routes)

Macau residents have the luxury of choosing between their local airport or neighboring Hong Kong.

  • Direct Flights (Air Macau): Air Macau operates direct flights from Macau International Airport (MFM) to Tokyo (Narita) and Osaka (Kansai). This is the most convenient option.

  • Via Hong Kong (HKIA): Many travelers take the TurboJET or Cotai Water Jet directly to Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) to access a wider range of flights via Cathay Pacific or HK Express.

  • Travel Time: Direct flights take approximately 3.5 to 4 hours.

Critical Arrival Note: Japan is 1 hour ahead of Macau. Ensure you have your "Visa Issuance Notice" (displaying the "Issued" status) ready on your mobile browser upon landing.

Financial Insights: MOP to JPY

The Macau Pataca (MOP) is pegged to the HKD, but it has zero usability outside Macau.

  • MOP Warning: Do not bring Patacas to Japan; they cannot be exchanged. Bring HKD or USD if you plan to exchange cash.

  • Cards: Credit cards issued by BNU (Banco Nacional Ultramarino) or BOC Macau work perfectly in Japan. Ensure you authorize overseas transactions.

  • Cash is King: While Tokyo is modern, traditional shops still prefer Yen cash. Withdraw from 7-Eleven ATMs in Japan using your UnionPay or Visa card.

Visa Payment: Our portal charges the $100.00 USD fee. You can pay using any international credit card. See our Visa Types and Prices page.

Japan E-Tourist Visa Cost & Processing Time

As a "Group B" applicant, your file undergoes a strict review process by our partners and the Japanese authorities.

  • Service Fee ($100.00 USD): This covers the Authorized Partner handling fee, document verification, and digital submission.

  • Timeframe: 9 to 15 Business Days.

  • Refund Policy: Applicant information is shared with authorized partner agencies for processing. Once the application is submitted to the agency, the service fee is non-refundable, regardless of the outcome. See our Refund Policy.

Japan E-Tourist Visa FAQ for Macau Citizens

I have a Portuguese Passport. Do I need this visa?

If you hold a valid Portuguese Passport, you likely qualify for the Visa Waiver program (Group A) and do not need to apply for this specific agency-processed E-Visa. This service is for Macau SAR Passport holders who require a visa. Please check your passport type before applying.

Can I apply individually without an agency?

No. If you are required to have a visa, regulations dictate that Macau SAR passport holders must apply through an authorized travel agency. You cannot submit an application directly to the MOFA site yourself.

Do I need to print the visa?

No. A screenshot or PDF printout is invalid. You must display the "Visa Issuance Notice" on your mobile screen with a live internet connection at the immigration counter.

Is the visa valid for multiple entries?

The standard E-Tourist Visa processed via this channel is typically for a Single Entry. If you need to travel frequently, you would need to apply for a Multiple Entry Visa physically at the Consulate in Hong Kong (which serves Macau).
