Japan E-Tourist Visa for Vietnam Citizens

From the bustling streets of Ho Chi Minh City to the ancient charm of Hanoi, Japan is a dream destination for Vietnamese travelers. Whether for seeing the Cherry Blossoms (Sakura), enjoying Japanese cuisine, or visiting friends, the demand for travel to Japan is skyrocketing.

In 2026, the Japanese government allows eligible Vietnamese citizens to apply for the Japan E-Tourist Visa. However, unlike "Group A" countries, Vietnamese passport holders (Group B) cannot apply individually directly to the government website. Applications must be processed as a batch through an Authorized Partner Agency. Our platform manages this mandatory agency process for you.

Quick Overview for Vietnam Citizens

  • Visa Type: Japan E-Tourist Visa (Temporary Visitor)

  • Processing Time: 9–15 Business Days

  • Visa Fee: $100.00 USD (All-Inclusive Service Fee)

  • Application Method: Online (Processed via Authorized Partner in Japan)

  • Validity: Single Entry (15 to 90 days stay)

Crucial Rule: Direct individual application to the MOFA site is strictly prohibited for Vietnamese citizens. You must go through an accredited agency. We bridge this gap: you upload your documents to our secure portal, and we submit them via our authorized partners based in Japan. To begin, Apply for Japan Visa.

Important Disclaimer: We are not affiliated with the Embassy or Government of Japan. We assist applicants by collecting documents and submitting them through authorized partner agencies accredited by the Japanese Government. The final decision rests solely with the Japanese authorities.

Traveling from Vietnam to Japan (Flight Routes)

Connectivity is excellent, with frequent flights from major Vietnamese hubs.

  • Full Service (Vietnam Airlines / ANA / JAL): Direct flights operate daily from Noi Bai (HAN) and Tan Son Nhat (SGN) to Tokyo (Narita/Haneda) and Osaka. Flight time is approx. 5–6 hours.

  • Low Cost (VietJet Air): A favorite for budget travelers. VietJet offers affordable direct flights to Tokyo, Osaka, and Fukuoka. Be careful with baggage fees if you plan to shop for electronics in Akihabara.

  • From Da Nang (DAD): Direct flights are also available for travelers in Central Vietnam.

Critical Arrival Note: Japan is 2 hours ahead of Vietnam. We recommend having your "Visa Issuance Notice" (displaying the "Issued" status) ready on your mobile browser upon landing.

Financial Insights: VND to JPY

The Vietnamese Dong (VND) exchange rate requires careful planning.

  • E-Wallets: Local apps like Momo, ZaloPay, or ViettelPay do NOT work in Japan. Do not rely on them.

  • Cards: Visa/Mastercards issued by Vietcombank, Techcombank, or VPBank work well, but you must enable "International Payments" in your app.

  • Cash is King: Japan is cash-heavy. Small ramen shops and train ticket machines often require Yen cash. Convert VND to USD or JPY before leaving Vietnam for better rates.

Visa Payment: Our portal charges the $100.00 USD fee. You can pay using an international credit card. See our Visa Types and Prices page.

Japan E-Tourist Visa Cost & Processing Time

As a "Group B" applicant, your file undergoes a strict review process by our partners and the Japanese authorities.

  • Service Fee ($100.00 USD): This covers the Authorized Partner handling fee, document verification, and digital submission.

  • Timeframe: 9 to 15 Business Days.

  • Refund Policy: Applicant information is shared with authorized partner agencies for processing. Once the application is submitted to the agency, the service fee is non-refundable, regardless of the outcome. See our Refund Policy.

How to Apply for a Japan E-Tourist Visa

Since direct individual application is impossible, follow these steps:

  1. Select Citizenship: Choose "Vietnam" on the application form.

  2. Upload Documents: Scan your Vietnamese Passport, Photo, and Financial Proof.

  3. Secure Payment: Complete the $100 USD fee.

  4. Partner Submission: We route your file to our authorized partner agency in Japan.

  5. Approval: Receive your digital "Visa Issuance Notice."

The Golden Rule: Ensure your photo has a white background and no glasses. Our experts review every file to prevent rejection before it reaches the authorities. You can Track Visa Status anytime.

Japan E-Visa Requirements for Vietnamese Passport Holders

To ensure approval via the partner channel, Vietnamese citizens typically need:

  • Valid Vietnamese Passport: Must be valid for the duration of stay.

  • Digital Photograph: White background, no glasses.

  • Financial Proof:

    • Bank Certificate (Sao kê ngân hàng): Showing salary or balance.

    • Savings Book (Sổ Tiết Kiệm): A copy of your savings book is a very strong supporting document for Vietnamese applicants to prove solvency.

Permitted vs. Prohibited Activities

The Japan E-Tourist Visa is strictly for short-term stays.

✅ Allowed Activities:

  • Tourism (Mt. Fuji, Kyoto temples).

  • Visiting friends or relatives.

  • Short-term business meetings.

❌ Prohibited Activities:

  • Working illegally (Beto-san issue): Working in construction, factories, or agriculture on a tourist visa is strictly prohibited and leads to immediate deportation and a long-term ban.

  • Job hunting for "Tokutei Gino" (Specified Skilled Worker) while on a tourist visa.

  • Overstaying the visa limit.

Japan E-Tourist Visa FAQ for Vietnam Citizens

Can I apply individually by myself?

No. The Japanese government regulations for Vietnam (Group B) do not allow individuals to submit applications directly to the e-Visa website. You must go through an accredited travel agency or partner. Our service fulfills this requirement for you.

Is this visa valid for labor export (Xuat khau lao dong)?

Absolutely not. This is a Tourist Visa. It does not allow you to work or intern in Japan. For work, you need a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) and a Work Visa via a sending organization.

Do I need to print the visa?

No. A screenshot or PDF printout is invalid. You must display the "Visa Issuance Notice" on your mobile screen with a live internet connection at the immigration counter.

Is the visa valid for multiple entries?

The standard E-Tourist Visa is typically for a Single Entry. If you need to travel frequently, you would need to apply for a Multiple Entry Visa physically at the Embassy with stricter financial proof.
